Georgia has emerged victorious, despite replacing several key defensive players. Kirby Smart’s team claimed victory once again, as well as the title of national champions in college football. This marks the second straight national championship win for Georgia, solidifying their dominant position as a crushing force in the college football world.
The Georgia Bulldogs Claim Victory
Georgia made it look effortless with their 65-7 victory over TCU in the national championship game, which was effectively decided by halftime. The Dawgs have now joined the teams with repeat national championship scores and have taken Alabama’s place as the new benchmark in college football. The Dawgs were superior in every aspect, being bigger, stronger, and faster than the Horned Frogs, and unlike Michigan, they were able to end TCU’s impressive run.
Georgia has won two consecutive national championships, making them one of the few teams to achieve this feat in recent history. Coach Kirby Smart and his team have achieved this despite the lack of parity in college football. Kelee Ringo played a key role in the victory, bouncing back from a tough performance in the Peach Bowl to effectively defend TCU’s standout receiver. Ringo played a major role in helping UGA secure the national championship.
Georgia Played a Clean Game
Todd Monken, Georgia’s offensive coordinator, outshined his counterpart in the national championship game. Monken successfully used TCU’s aggressive 3-3-5 defense against them by utilizing screens and constantly shifting pre and post-snap to keep TCU off balance. The Dawgs also incorporated uptempo plays to score big. At times, it seemed like UGA was a step ahead of TCU. They particularly had success in the first half by using a sugar huddle, a hybrid of a regular huddle, and a full no-huddle, which kept the defense guessing, as seen on an early touchdown pass.
Stetson Bennett had a strong performance passing the ball, but it was his running that gave Georgia an added dimension. A designed run reminiscent of his TD against Ohio State showed Bennett’s development as a quarterback. Bennett’s growth as a player is evident, and his college career is something to be proud of. Regardless of what he may or may not achieve in the professional league, Bennett has been a steady leader on offense for the Dawgs and will be remembered as one of the best quarterbacks in the school’s history. The coaching staff gave him a curtain call early in the fourth quarter to acknowledge his contribution to the team’s success.
In addition to their impressive performance, Georgia also played a clean game, avoiding mistakes. Unlike Michigan, who threw two pick-sixes and had two drives stopped on the goal line against TCU, the Dawgs had a smooth game, driven by their desire to play better than their game against Ohio State. TCU needed luck to win, but it did not come their way. In many ways, Georgia demonstrated their superiority by executing what Michigan couldn’t and proved why they are among the elite teams in college football.
